The Mayan Train is one of the priority projects of the Government of Mexico.

The best of Mexican engineering joins international partners to materialize the dream of the Mayan Train.

On October 30, the project contract was signed: Services for Technical Supervision and Quality Control Verification of the Construction Works of the Platform and Track of the Mayan Train Corresponding to the Izamal - Cancún Section and Adaptation of the Kantunil - Cancún Highway" that was won by the consortium formed by Egis México, Transconsult and Triada.

The Mayan Train proposes to revitalize development and share the greatness of this area with the entire peninsula and the rest of the country.

The nearly 1,500 kilometers of the train will connect the main regions of the Yucatan peninsula, from its large tourist centers to its rural communities, offering services for passengers and cargo.

So far, the first three sections of the train construction have been awarded after international public tenders supervised by UNOPS and section 4 through direct award to the construction company ICA in strict adherence to the law on the matter.

Section 4 of the Mayan Train runs 245 kilometers and extends through the territory of Yucatan to Quintana Roo. The company responsible for its construction is Grupo Ingenieros Civiles Asociados, ICA. The first station will be located in Izmal, then we continue towards Chichén Itzá, then it goes through Valladolid towards Nuevo Xcán and finally arrives in Cancún. This route will be double track and fully electrified.

The Mayan Train consists of a new rail transportation service that interconnects the main cities and tourist areas of the Yucatan peninsula. Its objective is to promote social inclusion and job creation through tourism and promote socioeconomic development.

It will provide passenger service during the day and cargo service at night.

The challenge of this part of the project is that it will be a mixed section, that is, road and railway. A section of the current highway will be occupied where the platform and train track will be, and in parallel, an additional section will be built.

This work is planned to be carried out in 26 months and we thank our collaborators and partners as together we will contribute our experience to this great project.
